Book Review of Descent Into The Hallway of Madness by Anthony Di Angelo

Rating: ⭐⭐️⭐️⭐⭐-(5/5)

Ever wonder how books can enthrall the mortal psyche? Books like psychological crime thrillers are required to create unpredictable suspense that draws your mind in unexpected ways. In Descent Into The Hallway of Madness, by Anthony Di Angelo, this peculiarity is prominent. This book centers on two main characters, Jonathan Davis, the eminent and most prestigious detective in the city, and his partner, Selena.

The loss of a dear one swirls the lives of these two characters. Jonathan engages in dark sexual escapades with prostitutes to mourn the separation from his ex-wife. On the other hand, Selena indulges in wine and sex to mourn her daughter's death. Soon the apathetic culprit, the shadow, who relishes killing women after exploring his sexual fantasies, is detected, but is the identity of the notorious killer ever uncovered?

Characterization was heavily impressed. Both the main characters and supporting characters had a life which allows us the opportunity to suspect them. This perfect characterization aided in the mystery played out by the author in this book. Without mincing words, the author skillfully steers the readers to the precise despondency Jonathan feels. The tension is kept high by descriptively expressing the characters in tense moods and in the structural rearrangement of the facets of the chapter to maintain the pacing swiftly.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the backstory and the detailed action scenes carried out. The writing style used is simple. You will instantly get the titillation from the first page. There are scenes of profanity and strong language, but they are not to offend the readers. Instead, they help to spice up the thrill of the book. It is difficult to state what to dislike about this book. The plot twist at the end was phenomenal.

I am confident that Anthony Di Angelo is a psychological crime thriller wordsmith and is setting a pace in that genre. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. Likewise, I would recommend this book to people interested in this genre of books.
