Book Review of The Last Conception by Gabriel Constans

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐️⭐️-(4/5)

Sarvana is an Indian-American Embryologist working in conception sciences with her partner, Johnny Cranston, for over eight years. She has been having quite a hard time coming out to her family about her sexuality. Her traditional Indian parents keep harassing her with the pressure of marriage. The immense expectation from her parents has prompted her to be silent about her relationship with Magdalena and Charley. Along the line, she meets fresh coercion of birthing a child in other to continue the master’s lineage. Does Sarvana open up to her parents and sister, Chitra, about her sexuality? Who does Sarvana end up with, Magdalena or Charley? Does she succumb to the new pressure of continuing the lineage? Who is the master, and what is Sarvana’s relation to him? If Sarvana eventually becomes a parent, how does she carry the child, and who donates the sperm for reproduction? The Last Conception, by Gabriel Constans is a book that must be on your TBR list!

I have to give it to Gabriel Constans for writing such a comprehensive book. There's striking humor, satire, vigilance to detail, professing conspiracy, and thousands of lessons to learn. During the process of explaining the IVF procedure, it was like receiving knowledge from the best professor in the field. From this book, I got to know what a hysterosalpingogram was. This book helped me better connect with the medical field because it was so extensive and factual and related in a very straightforward and easy-to-understand manner.

Coming to character development, Mr. Constans did an incredible job. Even though we meet with an array of characters in the story, it is easy to distinguish one from the other. The author gave us a see-through into the lives of every character in the story.

Ultimately, I had a very smooth reading experience. I did not find any errors in my reading, meaning the editing was flawless. I'm rating The Last Conception, by Gabriel Constans 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend it to people who prize family values and spiritual beliefs and are okay with a touch of the queer community.
