Book Review Of The School Of Hard Knocks by Nicole Brown

Rating:⭐⭐⭐-(3/5)

The School of Hard Knocks is a poetry journal that elated the hurdles of a school teacher. Ms. Broussard, a West-Wood High School teacher, is challenged by rude administrators, and soon her position as a teacher at the school is taken from her. However, she doesn't quiver but puts her trust in God. In the end, everything works in her favor.

Dreadful ploys and mistreatment of staff are evident in this book. To understand the direction of this poetry journal, you should get hold of your copy.

The author of this book smartly weaved prose and poetry in this book to emphasize her points. She tells Ms. Broussard’s story in such a manner that steals the reader's sympathy.

The book’s title does justice to its content, which is relatively striking in the narration. Likewise, the discussion questions included at the back are a valuable tool for stimulating thought-provoking conversations. The glossary of the book was beneficial in interpreting exotic words.

Unfortunately, the first poetry in the book after the prose lost me. What language was the poem written in,  and why was there no interpretation following the poem? The wording was quite complex and difficult to understand despite several trials, making the book a difficult read.

Ultimately, the lessons guiding this book are for all. Thus, I am rating this book 3 out of 5 stars.
