7 cake hacks for the best results

A professional baker or a learner? Here are 7 great tips to get you amazingly delicious cakes:

1. Do not have your oven too hot when you put your cake in.
Keep fire low until the cake rises, then increase heat. If your cake raises too high in center, it is because the oven is too hot at first.
2. If cake is coarse, this is usually because butter and sugar are not creamed sufficiently.
3. In making loaf cake it is better to put in egg whites before the flour but in a layer cake, add the egg whites after the flour has been added.

4. Any cake with shortening in it can be beaten after flour or baking powder are added.

5. In a sponge cake, after the flour is in, the less you stir the better the cake result.
6. In making angel cake, fold in flour rather than stir because stirring or beating breaks the air bubbles, thins the batter and makes cake tough and heavy. No one enjoys a "rock cake" trust me!
7. To get a really fluffy and light cake, sift and beat with all your might.
