How to make a coffee cake

Ingredients:

Cinnamon Filling
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon
Crumb Topping
  • 6 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
Cake
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
Frosting 
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and coat the baking pan with a non-stick spray 
2. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until combined.
3. To prepare the crumb topping, add the melted butter to the mixture above and mix with your fingers until it resembles bread crumbs. 
4. For the cake, mix the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in the bowl with a mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
5. Add in the beated eggs, vanilla, sour cream, salt, and baking powder and mix for a minute until combined and smooth.
6. Turn the mixer to low speed and add the flour and milk in alternating portions, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until properly combined.
7. Spread half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon filling evenly on top of the batter. Carefully spread the remaining cake batter on top of the cinnamon layer.
8. Evenly sprinkle the crumb topping on top.
9. Bake until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
10. Remove cake from oven and place pan on a cooling rack

For frosting:
Whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzle on top of the cooled cake.
