Nigerian buns recipe - puff puff

Super excited to have you in the month of July. I hope so far, the month has been good and productive despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thank you all for the love and support so far. It's been a month since the launch of this blog and the support has overwhelmed me.

Thank you so much!

However, today I'll be dishing out the recipe of one of Nigeria's famous buns, the "puff puff".

I remember as a kid, my mum used to make lots of this during the holidays and it would literally finish hours later, leaving us licking the oil off our fingers.

Disclaimer: Licking oil is unhealthy

As a Nigerian, born or brought up here, you must have had a taste of this yummy snack and can definitely relate to my throwback.

Puff puff appearance in small chops today tells us that levels don change and that's on "periodt"! Lol

With all that said, let me serve you the instructions. Bon Appétit!

Ingredients

◆2 cups all-purpose flour

◆2 tbsp dry active yeast

◆1 tsp ground nutmeg/cinnamon

◆1 cup warm water

◆1/2 cup granulated sugar

Rich results in Google’s SERP for “puff puff”

Directions

1. Activate the yeast by adding warm water and sugar to it in a bowl. Mix and cover with a cloth for 5 minutes.

Activated yeast looks foamy.

2. In a medium bowl, add the sugar, flour, nutmeg and mix well.

3. Pour the activated yeast to the flour mixture. Add warm water and mix properly to merge the ingredients.

4. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and place in a warm place for 35 minutes.

A stretchy but firm batter would be formed. Mould in balls.

5. Deep fry the puff puff on medium heat

6.  Strain the oil and serve hot.
