Book Review of The Second by R. M Dilleen

Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐-(4/5)

Daphne is a 19-year-old girl from affluent parents who are too preoccupied with their lives to give a damn about her until her abduction. Fortunately, after slapping death in the face, she encounters Baden, a scarred ex-soldier. Before attempting it once more, can Baden assist Daphne in identifying the precise perpetrators of the kidnapping and attempted murder? Does his act give him serenity from his troubled mind?

Without mincing words, Dilleen has outdone herself again. I admire her writing prowess and technique. Dilleen holds the extraordinary power of narration. She crafts the settings of this book to give the mind's eye a perfect illustration of events. She puts up such a story that addresses sensitive themes of kidnap, murder, violence, and cloning; subtly.

Only looking at the cover art is an enticing call to read this book. Dilleen does an excellent job of selecting artistic masterpieces to complement her books. And the suspense? Mindblowing! As you progress, you meet with more exciting twists and turns.

Likewise, I enjoyed the character build. The characters are well-developed. Unfortunately, what irritated me was the budding romance between Bade and Daphne. I felt the age difference was too far apart for the author to allow such to happen. Nevertheless, the editing was without fault, and I must commend the author and the entire publishing team for that. Finally, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
